About the Guild

Our Mission

Leafsteep Guild is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing education and knowledge across the tea industry. We serve tea professionals, retailers, growers, and enthusiasts through structured tasting courses, brewing workshops, and industry resources that reflect current trade standards.

Founded in 1994 by a group of tea importers and educators, the Guild has grown into a recognized resource for tasting methodology, sourcing transparency, and brewing technique instruction across North America.

What We Do

Our History

What began as a small regional tasting circle has expanded into a membership organization serving hundreds of tea professionals annually. Our course curriculum has been refined over three decades in partnership with tea gardens, import houses, and culinary institutes.

Governance

Leafsteep Guild is governed by a volunteer board drawn from the tea trade, including representatives from importing houses, independent tea rooms, and academic partners. The board meets quarterly to review curriculum standards and industry advocacy priorities.
